Engine out

Hi Y'all,

The engine is out and I'll let the pictures do the talking....
Had to remove as much stuff from the front of the engine to get the space necessary to bring the engine forward and past the tabs for the reaction plate at the back.

The engine is free of the car but the hardest part is working the engine back and forth, up and down to get it past the front frame rail

Down and out

Well that's it for today, with the Holidays coming probably won't do much again until after the new year.

Happy Holidays to you all and thanks for your interest!
Cheers,
Lynn

  1. Well done! Not an easy job and especially by yourself. The block inside the water pump looks nice and clean too so definitely a good sign. I like the way you backed up the car on the ramps. I guess Jan helped you during the process? I really need to finish a few things on my car and then do that to clean the engine and IRS from the last tour. Any leakage of the front main seal? That was the first job I did on my yellow 69. With Jerry's help and Erica's suggestions the task was done without too much difficulty and successfully stopped the oil leakage up front on the engine. Plus I put in Cometics on the sump.

Looking great and this will be another big step forward on an excellent E-Type!

  2. Hi Drew,
Thank you! Regarding the ramps, I wouldn't have the nerves to do that, I always jack the car up from under the rear suspension with a wood block and then set the wheels back on the ramps. When I see you on the next oil leak ask me about the time I rolled the 73 off the ramps....
Not much leakage from the front seal but that will be on the short list for sure once I figure out how to approach the water leaks from the top of the engine.
I sure hope so, this car deserves the effort IMHO.
    Cheers,
    Lynn
