Preparing for front suspension work

Have been a little sparse on posts this week, appointments and other issues kept me from putting the time in on 'CD' this week, put a little time in on Wednesday with the steering wheel but Thursday was a bust 😜
I'll let the captions of todays pictures tell the story:

Scraping the crud off the front of the engine, I think it reflects 50 years of use and a loose hose clamp.

This clamp was quite loose and I suspect that this lead to a lot of build up. The hose just above the pointer looks to have been there for a really long time, the hose was so brittle that it broke into pieces when removing.

The ignition leads are ancient, hard and brittle.  The originality is impressive but they will have to be replaced.

The distributor cap and leads also show their age.

Removing the splash pans and scraping the frames to clear the debris

Ready for the suspension parts

Sanded with 2K grit then applied 2 more coats, will allow to cure re-sand, and  apply a couple more  coats.

"That's All Folks"

Cheers,
Lynn

  1. I was out of town while you were doing lots of work so just now getting back to the blog. You are really delving into some very grimy, but very necessary work.
