Decided to clean up the distributor today and found myself wondering how this engine ran what with the valve clearances that it had and now finding that the distributor advance mechanism was corroded and frozen. I disassembled the unit and lubricated the now moving parts.

| These two pieces have to be able to move in order to advance the timing/spark so that the spark plugs fire at the correct time. |

Nice work. Sounds like it sure needed to be refurbished. Good thing you caught it before it failed later.
